While enjoying a recreational ride this past week, had one of the more positive phrases yelled at me in passing.

What’s wrong with you? You’re on a bike, why aren’t you smiling?!

Which of course, made me smile.

There have been a few questions about the second half of our facility, the living quarters. We will be dividing the basement up to form two incredibly small bed “cabinets/closets”. It doesn’t feel right calling them rooms really, so we will stick with that.

The 2x4s from the walls on the first floor will be salvaged and reused as completely as possible. If anyone has any good tips on how to decorate a small space with no windows, give a shout!

The website is coming further along, so hopefully we will be able to launch before or near July 1. The look is mostly there, it is just finishing out the shopping cart, as well as the more obscure pages that you don’t think about until much later in the game (don’t worry, we won’t have a hideous 404 page…)

According to the IRS and Pennsylvania State Government, we are now a registered company. Our paperwork should arrive next week, and we can begin selling stuff in July now. Clank, LLP is the official moniker, while the sub divisions we are planning for separation between the ID firm and the cycling goods side will come later, but will both involve the word clank.

We should be getting the key for the new place sometime next week, in which case the renovations will begin. Look out for “before” pictures soon!

So much to learn, so much to do.

Well, I guess it is that time, after all.

In three days time, I will finish my work with Bright Innovation on the south side- and then there will be no excuse for delay. We have a lot to learn. Ben and I have designed things before; but putting those things on a store shelf will be a whole new education entirely. Out of one and into the other, I suppose.

Put in some time with the forthcoming business document today. Writing out specific plans forces me to reflect on the mixed wisdom of beginning a business from where Ben and I stand. There is a lot we don’t know, but one of the things we do know is this: where the state economy may defeat, it seems to give back in ample opportunity. Indeed, this is a very exciting time in many ways.

If you read this, you are here at the beginning. Stick with us. This is bound to be a journey fraught with hilarity and peril- Though we will do our level best to make the peril hilarious as well.

The beginning. Graduation and the unfortuante social affairs of saying and understanding the meaning of farewell are mostly taken care of at this point. As pained a process this may be, it gives time and mental room to focus on the next step.

We are excited to move forward with clank, a firm specializing in creative design solutions, beginning with a self driven focus of cycling accessories. The goal of this blog is to keep those, if any, apprised of our various moves towards the unknown, for now, date of our launch. All we can pinpoint is some time this summer, probably towards August.

The location has been set, and everyone should start bookmarking 3401 Butler Street as the place to be on their google maps, or in yelp on their iPhone. We will be setting up shop soon enough, and look forward to sharing it with yinz (gotta keep with local dialect if we are going to make this work)
