We recently read Grant Petersen’s “Tips for Happy Riding” and found a lot of wisdom in some of these short suggestions.
You should, of course, read them all- but here are some of our favorites:
“Never let your chain squeak.
If you see another rider approaching you from the rear and trying to catch you, let it happen. Fun is more important than fast.
Shoot photos on your rides and give them away.
Don’t ever describe any bike, no matter how inexpensive or dilapidated, as ‘a piece of crap.’
If you buy a stock bike, do something to it that makes it the only one exactly like it in the world.”
Thank you Mr. Petersen! But let’s not stop there. Leave, as comments, YOUR tips for happy riding, and we’ll start to build a list here, too. Whether it is specific to your city, or specific to nothing other than the bicycle at large, we want to hear what makes you happy on your bicycle and how others can experience it too… because riding a bicycle should always be happy.
